Bricktober – Perth is hosted by The Rotary Club of Ascot (Inc) in Conjunction with THe West Coast LEGO® User Group to raise funds to go towards support for programs for young children and other Rotary and Community Projects.

The main beneficiaries of the event have been:-

  • Set up and funding of clubs that offer the “LEGO ® Play Experience” to children.

  • Support for The Arthur Bray Foundation, a fund that assists youth in participating in leadership and development programs.
  • Support for The Rotary Foundation that funds and develops programs around the world, helping to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs.
  • The world eradication of Polio is one of the funds main projects.
  • Coordinating and funding the supply of fresh water in East Timor Leste

The Rotary Club of Ascot has, in the last 6 years, developed the supply of fresh drinking water to communities in East Timor Leste.

The Rotary Club of Ascot was very proud to donate tubs of Lego to 28 new Lego Clubs so far.

]]> Each year we run two Pre-Show competitions – the Shoebox MOC and Colouring-in competition.

We received quite a few Shoebox competitions entries this year and all were showcased on the Bricktober-Perth Facebook Page.  From each age category, a judging panel selected six children to come along to have their build photographed and be interviewed.  Today’s tabs feature those winning entries.  It is a joy to see children enthused about building LEGO ® even if this time some were a little reluctant to talk about their model.   Together with being photographed and interviewed all winners received a 2020 Bricktober t-shirt and a small LEGO ® set.

The other competition run as a pre-show competition to occupy children (and adults) during the school holidays as the Colouring In competition.  Each year we provide links on the bricktober.info website for this to be done before Bricktober and this year was no different so entries were submitted at the Fun Days and we have included our winners submissions for you to look at.

It was a surprise that we were not overwhelmed with entries this year, but it was particularly pleasing to see a family of five all submit entries – how wonderful to sit down as a family and do an activity together.   You have to be in it to win it and the Colouring Competition winners have also won a Bricktober 2020 t-shirt and small LEGO ® set.

]]> What does Bricktober mean to you?   What started out as two people showcasing their Lego collection to see if there was any interest in a show in Perth has grown to around 8000 people attending Curtin Stadium last year.

With our hands tied (or dipped into hand santiser) and our desire to continue the fan described Bricktober Vibe we have created this online show with many hours dedicated to presenting the AFOL builds of Perth.

We are about inclusivity and with the Brick Pit one of our most popular activities we wanted to include children in the show, whilst respecting the original idea of AFOL exhibitors.

We continued with our Future Exhibitors who were showcased on Day 24 and coming up later in the week will be the pre-show competitions of Shoebox MOC and Colouring Competitions.

Day 25 is a little different and something we have not done before – The Bricktober Mosaic Wall where for $3 participants came down to the Fun Days and got a raffle ticket, guessed the number of parts and then built whatever they wanted on a 16×16 plate.

We were particularly pleased to see our raffle and guess the number of parts winners came from the participants and when you hear a child say ‘it is the best day of my life’ to win five sets of Lego in a jar it makes everything we volunteer to do worthwhile.
